Sudo memory error

Hi all,

Next hurdle with my sudo configuration...seem to have a memory fault shwon below when running sudo

I haven't increased swap space yet...only because I'm thinking this is a 128GB machine (rx2800 i4) with nothing running on it yet. So I'm suspecting some kernel tuning would do the trick.

Message and swapinfo shown below. As always any input is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Thanks

Mauro

Physical Memory :

Currently our dump device is less then, as per physical memory. Due to which, in event of server crash, crash dump is not having enough dump space to store the crash.

Mine question is , Is it possible to use existing swap device as dump device. If yes How?

OS is HP-Unix 11i v3, We had swapoff utility installed in case we need to disable swap.

Hi Folks,

I need help in finding commands on HP-UX as a non-root user to find physical memory used which can match the value shown by glance.

The swapinfo only talks about the swap usage and command like dsmeg needs root access.
If anyone has come across other command for Memory usage please help me out.

Thanks,

Executing script/command after Telnet login

Hello Folks,

We have a server with HP-UX (HP-UX favc B.11.11 U 9000/800 146404690 unlimited-user license) that is used as a bridge to another server. It is very old.

this server operates as the following way:

  • Any user must login using a telnet client.
  • All users use Widnows as their OS.
  • When any user logs in via telnet a menu appears.
  • This menu allow users to do some things such as connecting to another server, print some information, etc.

I'd like to replicate this configuration in another server, but I cannot find the way to do this.

I've checked the '/etc/profile' file and the '.profile' for every user but I cannot find any reference to the telnet's behaviour.

Please point me to the right direction. Thanks for your time.

Corrupt smh - Missing /etc/sam/reg_tm.db

$

Greetings

Issue with smh on an Integrity rx6600 server running HPUX BOE 11.31.1209

SMH does not work correctly. For example, If you go info smh>Accounts for users>Users, the following error occurs:

""The SAM file registration database, /etc/sam/reg_files.db, either is missing, cannot be opened, or is empty. This is usually caused by running SAM on a system that is not configured to run SAM. If this is the case, please use swconfig(1M) to configure the "SystemAdmin.SAM" fileset. Command Unsuccessful""

Yet this fileset is configured (did a swconfig anyway with no joy):

* Configured SystemAdmin.OBAM-RUN,l=/,r=B.11.31
* Configured SystemAdmin.SAM,l=/,r=B.11.31
NOTE: Volatile file "/etc/sam/reg_tm.db" missing.

If you match the /etc/sam directory to that from a similar server, there are three files issues

-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 0 Oct 19 2012 reg_files.db                     # well, file is present but 0 size
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 229 Nov 30 2012 reg_dirs.db                   # file not present

-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 35903 Nov 30 2012 reg_tm.db                    # file not present

I have no clues as to how long smh has been like this on this server.  Anyone any idears how you get these 'db' files back?

Thanks

90GB of sys mem usage after clean boot

Hi,

I've been presented with this server suffering from a system memory usage so high that the installed database software can't start up. The server has 96GB of physical memory and the system is using  89GB of it after a cold boot.

I've had a look at the tuneables and there's nothing I can see that is out of order and there are no services running after a fresh boot. I've brought down maxdsiz, maxdsiz_64 & base_pagesize back to default but after a reboot, no difference.

Here's what glance shows for memory stats,

HP9000 and Itanium servers sensor monitoring

$

hi all,

Looking for advice from the experts before getting the hands dirty

It looks like the HP SIM Agent is supported on both Integrity and 9000 servers (as per the doc below)

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04263984#N10117

I am mainly looking for monitoring the health of the servers - cpu status, fan status, disk status, temperature, etc. and, preferably to query via SNMP

Upon installing the HP SIM agent on these servers, is there any documentation on which MIBs are exposed? Is it possible to get the information above?

If it's not available via SNMP, are there any other HP recommended ways of getting the same information?
