And now too sure if for example pacth PHSS_41496 is a replacement for old PHSS_39102.

If so how can I clean single patch of if its ok to clean/remove all superseeded patchs?

Target device is lost in the Name Server GPN_FT response

Our customer have two hp rx6600 servers received log many times. May experts can advise what's the problem root cause and how to do needed actions if it is necessary? Many tahnks for your kind suport!

Notification Time: Fri Nov 10 17:15:07 2017

taopdmw1 sent Event Monitor notification information:

/adapters/events/ql_adapter/0_5_1_0 is >= 3.
Its current value is CRITICAL(5).

Event data from monitor:

Event Time..........: Fri Nov 10 17:15:07 2017
Severity............: CRITICAL
Monitor.............: dm_ql_adapter
Event #.............: 59
System..............: xxx

Summary:
Adapter at hardware path 0/5/1/0 : Target device is back. Port World-wide
name remains the same as original.

Description of Error:

lbolt value: 347928015

Target with device id 0x10300 is back in the Name Server GPN_FT (FCP type)
response. And the 'Port World-wide name' remains the same as original.
device id = loop id, for private loop devices
device id = nport ID, for fabric/public-loop devices

Probable Cause / Recommended Action:

This is a paired message with "Target device is lost in the
    Name Server GPN_FT response".
On receiving another RSCN, driver sent Name Server GPN_FT request
to obtain all the FC-4 type device information in the fabric.
Driver has detected that a previously lost device (Nport_id)
is back in the GPN_FT response, or it's corresponding World-Wide
    Name remains the same.

Driver will be able to communicate with the device.
    No action is needed.

ping delay (packet loss) between HP-UX (11.11) and Windows

$

Hi,

We have a HP-UX 11.11 ( 10.61.X.X  ) machine which was recently migrated from one location to another.

There is a packet loss between the Unix server and one windows machine in the same subnet ( 10.61.X.X )

The ping has a delay of exactly 20 seconds.

# ping gsauXXXXX
PING gsauXXXXX: 64 byte packets
64 bytes from 10.61.x.X: icmp_seq=0. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 10.61.x.X: icmp_seq=58. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 10.61.x.X: icmp_seq=78. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 10.61.x.X: icmp_seq=161. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 10.61.x.X: icmp_seq=181. time=0. ms

The windows box is present in the Unix server's host file

There is only one NIC on the HP-UX server.

I have tried removing all the entries in the resolv.conf and manually add a songle name server but no luck.

The ping sometimes works fine when we stop start the network /sbin/init.de/net start

Can someone point me in the right direction.

file and directory permissions with samba 4.5 (CIFS 4.05.11 installed)

Hi all

I installed CIFS Server Version 4.05.11 on hpux 11.31 in order to connect from am WIN 10 Version 1709, what was not working with samab 3.2.X

Now a lot of configuration parameters are unknown like "force directory mode ",..

How can i specity file and directory permissions now differing from defaut samba (create mask = 744 and directory mask = 755, am i right?) and default UNIX (666 and 777)

I need files 774 and dirs 775

When i specify this in smb.conf using only create mask and directory mask the resultion unix files are

764 (!) and directorys are 775 (= is OK)

what is wrong? Win User is using default permissions (no special umask set on HPUX)

(unix extentions = no)

When i change settings in smb.conf the results are not always the same.

A always disconnect and reconnect the windows share.

Are the permission information cashed anywhere?

thanks for help - answer on monday is early enough

regards Romy

Hi All

I am trying to boot the HP-UX server in single mode boot from boot loader prompt but its stuck after executing insf commands .

From earlier output when single user mode was working fine , I could make out that its not executing the 3 INIT commands this time due to which I am not getting the prompt . I tried maintenance mode boot as well but same results

INIT: Overriding default level with level 's'

INIT: SINGLE USER MODE

INIT: Running /sbin/sh

I don't have an ignite backup or DVD . is there any way out ??

Below is the screenshot from maintenance mode boot

network printing software on 11.31

I'm working on a brand new 11.31 system that needs to do network printing.

I have 'printcfg' install:

swlist|grep -i printers
PrintCfg B.11.31.07 HP-UX Printers and Plotters Configuration Tool Bundle

When I run 'lpweb' and go to 'add printer' I get:

Printer Management->Add printer

Spooler : RUNNING System Default : NOT DEFINED
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Add RS-232 printer/plotter

When i run 'smh' and select 'p' (not 'l' (ell))...and drill down to where I am lead to believe that I can install a network printer:

Add Network-Based Printer/Plotter -> │ Add Printer/Plotter Connected to HP JetDirect...

This error pops up:

The HP JetDirect printer software is not installed on your system
(neither the command "/opt/hpnpl/admin/hppi", nor the command
"/opt/hpnp/admin/jetadmin", exists). Therefore, it is not possible
to add a printer that is connected to an HP JetDirect interface.

Checking the software depot, there's nothing (obvious?) for another/additional software package (like the old JetDirect one).
