Hi Gurus ,
is it possible to use local fs ( hp ux v3) to replicate to fs on another system(hp ux v3) using rsync.
Is it heavy on system , if croned.
What about if the source systems fs changes very frequently that needs to be synced to remote .
Any specific consideration , is it advisiable ?
Pls share working syntax examples and configuration if some has had this working .

Hi , Its occyping more space,can we remove the older file from the path /var/opt/psb/db/pgsql/base/ in HPux 11.31 , to reduce the space in /var

When running a # ruptime -l it's returning a system as down that has been decommissioned. How can I remove this system from being included in the results?

Using DRD, I cloned the root disk onto a SAN LUN, but cannot boot from it. Am I missing something?

We have an HP 9000 and we have a short term need for Mirrordisk. How can we go about getting a license for it? Preferabbly a short term one but a permananet one if needs be.

Hi experts,
I'm facing a strange behavior with my HP box. It is responsible for backups and without any intervention it just cuts his connections on the main interface. I can't connect via telnet and for that nobody can reach him, no ping respond.
When i reboot the server it solves and works for 3 sometimes and other just 1 day and just stop responding.
What could be the problem.

"./omnisetup.sh[83]: Syntax error at line 94: 'then' is not matched.

Here is the actual delay which we can see in “ssh/remsh” connection as of now, “wtmps” files on the target host is just “79kb” still ssh / remsh connection is slow towards this host.
Rest of the machines it hardly takes “0.90” or “1” sec for ssh / remsh login.

Can anyone please tell me how can I make some entries in cron if I have to make some process automated.
Like I want that the nickel script should run daily or on weekly basis and a script containing some imp commands like
ioscan, bdf. cmviewcl, etc should run daily in the morning and evening.
Please suggest how can I do it and where I have to edit.
I don't want ready made script as I have to learn how to do it I want the procedure or anything related to it in a basic form.
Since I am new to hpux I want to know about unix.
Please also guide me in any way possible.

Does anyone know what happens if you use 'scp' command and NOT specify the remote_dir and though you do specify remote server i.e example below:
root@local # scp local_file remote
What I've discovered that unless to full remote_host:remote_dir is specified, it simply performs a local copy (in the same dir) and creates a file with the name 'remote' exactly as the command below:
root@local # cp local_file remote
So for those who are wondering why it was such a fast copy and where did it went, there's the answer.

We have facing a problem like the printer service went off on every weekly once like Wednesday @ 10 AM.
We dont have any Scripts placed in cron.

We have 2 app and 2 db servers of 11iv3 each 16c / 256 GB RAM , rx2800 i4 .
We are facing tremendus performance issue for our batch jobs commencing from 9pm everyday.
We collected sar statistics , and it shows %wio is consistently above 40 for 4 hrs.
These all 4 servers each has 2 hba connected to EMC SAn switch 8gb , and storage is VNX 5500 with
24GB Cache
12 nos. of 8Gbps FC port
6Gbps SAS back-end architecture.
85 nos. of 300GB 15K SAS drives
58 nos. of 600GB 15K SAS drives
8 nos. of 2TB NL SAS drives
5 nos. of 100GB SSD
Application is finance related & database is oracle 11g.
Tried all parametrs filecache,hires,etc...no use
DB async_io false , increased SGA ...no use
Now if we increase number of HBA's will our perfmnce improve ?
We already have EMC multipathing software
