Background L2000 running 11.00 6 A5158A FC adapters. 3 FC10s with at mixture of 18 and 36 GB drives. The drive in location c5t0d0 is having problems and is scheduled for replacement. Anyone have a tried and true method to quickly change out a FC drive? Do we have to fool with fcmsutil in any way. Drive is mirrored to c10t5d0.

How can I configure EMS not to monitor a Fibre Channel Adapter.? I need to upgade STM , but is there a config file I can edit to make EMS ignore the adapters?

Hi experts,
Can someone help me find out why i can´t list the Core HP-UX 11.0 DVD inserted on my HP Disk Array 5300 on Bay 1. When I interrupt the boot message and type SEARCH to list the devices i just can list on internal disk, the one that is failingto boot.
My box is the rp2470 that comes with 2 disk one on 0/0/1 and another on 0/0/2 the one that displays is the 0/0/2

one day recently we noticed the SMTP host name during sendmail processing (in mail.log) was overlaid with unknown outside host name and not using the name set in sendmail.cf.
Sendmail.cf has not changed, no patching or software installs have occurred.
If we replace the SMTP host name with its IP address in CF file..its works once again.
Any idea what has happened?

I have installed some networking (and other) software on my K370 and am now getting the following message after successful bootup (system at the # prompt):
INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly.
Will try again in 5 minutes.
Check for possible errors.
id: ded "/sbin/ded"
This error repeats itself every five minutes and the system does not return me to the # prompt. How do I exit this loop?
Any idea which program is causing this error to appear? What is the fix for it? How do I isolate the particular program causing this so I can remove it or fix it?
On the bootup checking run, I get:
Starting Datakit subsystem - fail (all other checks pass without error)
and
lvol5 and lvol8 need checking
Is the Datakit subsystem error/fail causing this? How do I check lvol5 (opt) and lvol8 (var)?

Where do I find these drivers? Are they on a particular CD? I am not sure where to look for them in order to install them.

I am trying to utilize snmpset command in net-snmp installed on HPUX 11.31
when i execute snmpset command to my destination host i get 'Timeout' error, my destination host is configured to listen on port '1234' and is opend in firewall. also in my SET command i'lle be specifying destinatin host and port to be used.
when analized the reason for timeout(no response from destination), it is seen request sent is always having the destinatin host and the port as i expected to send them (which is correct) also source host ip is correct but source port is getting changed dynamically. i suspect this could be the reason for the error where those random ports are not opened in firewall.
then i tried to specify in 'SET' command to use 162 port only in sending the requests, still i see source port is not restricted to 162 but its dynamically changing.
So i need to configure my net-snmp to use only a given port (may be port 162) when sending out requests in snmpset/snmpget.
can you please help in identifying what approach needs to be followed in achiving this requirement.

I have a remote customer, rp5470 and rp2470 servers use same ,single DVD ROM in common; but I am not sure about connection setup ,even though I read lots of about 5300 similar posts here like daiys chain or single usage models..
there are two cluster (active inactive) = I mean 2 X 2 server + 1 DVD ROM ,both have same connection in cluster ,but one cluster sees DVD ROM from rp5470 other seems DVD ROM from Rp2470 server , DVD ROM on tape array 5300 no daisy chain connection. seems standard connection.
My rp5470 that doesn't see DVD ROM ,but RP2470 does see ,RP5470 is corrupted ,down and needs re-install , so I cannot do that ,due to DVD not visible connect..Besides , even though they have similar tape array connection ,on other cluster OR node RP2470 does not see DVD ROM ,but RP5470 is able to connect to DVD ROM ??
My question is where I have to look OR change what to make DVD ROM visible on down server ? SCSI ID switch ?
Second question ; when I copy boot disk with dd command to a new disk , then I put this new disk on corrupted server it will be work ? it will be bootable ?

Now I have to create a vpar with 16 core and 64 GB.
When I was searching in other post, I came to know that I have to install base OS before creating virtual partition in BL890C i4.
from the base OS , I have to create vpar.
Can you tell me the steps to build OS and Vpar in BL890 ?
There has been some changes in the naming convention of the user names on the Unix servers. Before usually the username was created using the first name and any UID above 100 could be assigned to it. Right now, there is some change in the naming convention and the usernames of the staff members should be the first inital and the last name. Also the UID of the staff members should be something above 20000.
I have been asked to implement these changes on the HP-UX based servers.
Can someone please advice me the best way to accomplish this task? I want to change the usernames of the existing users and also want to change the UID of these accounts as well so that they start with 20000.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
